The Georgia Volunteer Battalion was formed with the intent of getting back to the basics of Civil War Reenacting. We have seen so many units fall apart because power struggles and internal politics became apparant. The GVB was formed by several founding units with the express intent of avoiding all politics and battalion interference in company level affairs. The initial GVB was formed under the command and tutelage of Colonel H.L. Haygood, and has thrived since then. The initial group of a few units has grown into a cohesive entity of dozens of stable and well-led fighting companies. The GVB is currently the second battalion, Department of the Gulf under General Tom Jessee as well | |||||||
